Peggy J. Pratz

Peggy J. Pratz passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the age of 90. She was born on November 10, 1935, in Dade County, Florida, to Thomas W. and Roberta (Boyd) Meyer.

Peggy grew up on a farm outside of Jacksonville, Florida, alongside her two sisters and brother. She attended high school in Jacksonville, where she served as drum major for the high school band. She often delighted her family with stories of the adventures she had with the band, including performing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and a memorable trip to Cuba, where the band marched in a parade.

In 1959, Peggy married William Michael Meyer, and together they raised three sons: Jimmy, Michael and Jeff. Her life took a heartbreaking turn when her beloved husband William “Bill,” was killed in action while serving as a fighter pilot in Vietnam. Suddenly widowed and raising three young boys, Peggy returned to Florida to be closer to her family. It was there that she met another fighter pilot Col. James Allen Pratz, whom she married in 1971.

Peggy and James shared 40 wonderful years of marriage, blending their families into a lively household of six children, affectionately known as the “Pratz Bratz.” Family was always at the heart of Peggy’s life, and she cherished the time they spent together. Whether enjoying a day on the golf course, bowling (where she had a knack for beating everyone), or gathering around a table to play cards, she loved making memories with those she held dear.

An avid bridge player, Peggy also enjoyed working on puzzles and spending time with family and friends. But above all, her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She could spend hours watching videos of them and never missed an opportunity to tell anyone who would listen just how wonderful and special each one was. Her pride in her family was boundless, and she celebrated each of their lives and accomplishments with genuine enthusiasm and love.

Peggy’s warmth, strength, competitive spirit, and devotion to her family will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and a family who will forever be grateful for the time they shared with her.

Peggy is survived by: her brother Tommy Meyer & his wife, Yolanda of Miami, Florida; and her children, Jimmy R. Meyer of Key West, Florida, Schuyler Armijo & her husband Ricardo of New Mexico, Michael Meyer and Susan of Hallettsville, Texas, Kirsten Ousey & her husband Michael, of San Marcos, Texas and Jeffrey Meyer & his wife Angela, of Georgetown, Texas. She is also lovingly remembered by her fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life.

She was preceded in death by: her parents Thomas and Roberta Meyer; her sisters, Marlene and June; her husbands, Lt. Col. William “Bill” Meyer and Col. James Pratz; and her son Jay Pratz; and grandson Jeremy.

A service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Methodist Church of Hallettsville.

Peggy will be deeply missed and forever loved. Though she is no longer with us, her love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
