Obituary

Pauline Huser, 94, of Hallettsville, passed away March 7, 2010. She was born on January 28, 1916 to Joseph A. & Pauline Leopold Grahmann in Hallettsville. She married to Henry Brogger on July 10, 1945, he passed away on November 12, 1956; later she married Joe A. Huser on April 18, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of Americas, Christian Mothers, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

After Henry died, many of the older nieces and nephews would take turns staying with her, and Margie Sobotik Becker lived with her for a period of time. She wrapped tomatoes in the tomato sheds near the railroad tracks and later worked for Weingartens, ran a service station with her husband Henry, sat for patients in the hospital, but mainly raised her family. A couple of years after Henry died, her sister Eleanor and husband Ben Huser did a little matchmaking, and Pauline married Ben's brother Joe Huser and this forged their two families into one forever. When we were all together whether for work or play there was never a dull moment and we always had so much fun. Because of this Eleanor and Pauline have had many first experiences camping, riding a boat, going to the beach and watching their children's families grow together.

Pauline enjoyed babysitting her grandsons and was involved in all areas of their life. Her passion was gardening, and many people stopped to look at her yard and ask her about her flowers or if they could have cuttings. She was awarded the Yard of the Month by the Garden Club, and wanted to decline the honor because she was a perfectionist and didn't feel her yard was worthy. Her sister Hilda Elstner had to convince her to accept the honor. Her love of God and her grandsons were the most important values in her life. She attended daily Mass until she no longer was able.

Pauline is survived by: her daughter Shirley Hollas & husband Ronald of Hallettsville; brother Sylvester Grahmann & wife Mildred of Hallettsville; sister Eleanor Huser of Hallettsville; 2 sister-in-laws, Marie and Irene Huser of Shiner; and 4 grandchildren, Clinton, Bradley, Dillon, and Nathan Hollas.

Pauline was preceded in death by: 1st husband Henry; 2nd husband Joe; parents; 2 brothers, Fred and Robert Grahmann; and 2 sisters, Josephine Rainosek and Hilda Sobotik Elstner.

We have so many stories we could write for days. We are going to miss her so much but we are comforted by the memories and love that we shared with her and the example of her life. She was a much loved person and had so much love for everyone around her and will greatly be missed. She lived a wonderful life and I know she is in a better place.
