Obituary

Paula Partida Loya, 95, of Hallettsville, passed away April 12, 2013 at Hallettsville Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. She was born on April 27, 1917 to Juan Esparza Partida and Teresa Herrera Partida in Dewitt County, Texas. She married Manuel Loya Sr. on February 23, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. They made their home in Yoakum, TX, and later moved to Victoria, TX. After Manuel's death in 1984, she moved back to Hallettsville. She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Life Member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Hallettsville. Paula was a warm, caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who loved taking care of her family, and she loved to cook and sew.

Paula is survived by: brother Lupe Partida & wife Lena of Hallettsville; 2 sisters, Ramona Partida Hernandez of El Cajon, CA, and Damas Partida Garcia & husband David of Waco, TX; granddaughter Dawn Loya of Needville, TX; grandson Manuel "Trey" Loya III & wife Angie of Pasadena, TX; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Paula was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; son Manuel Loya Jr.; daughter Dora Loya; 2 brothers, Sylvester "Tito" Partida and Tom Partida; and 3 sisters, Blanche Partida Alvarez, Christine Partida Rivera, and Mary Partida De La Rosa.

Sincere gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Hallettsville Rehabilitation, Hospice of South Texas and especially to Dr. Justin Powell for his devoted care and concern and his deep compassion of her medical care during the past several years. Also sincere thanks to the many friends that loved and cared for her during her stay at Hallettsville Rehabilitation and especially to those who watched over her with care at their dining table.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation : 4 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 7 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home; and 9:30 am Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiate: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hospice of South Texas, Hallettsville Rehabilitation, or Donor's Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
