IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patsy Jane
Chapman
November 2, 1927 – February 7, 2016
Patsy "Pat" Jane Chapman, 88, of Hallettsville, passed away Feb. 7, 2016. She was born on Nov. 2, 1927 to Gus Lloyd & Carrie Bennett Skelton Sr. in Hallettsville. She married Carl "Banks" Chapman, the love of her life, on May 31, 1952 in Hallettsville. They raised three children who they loved & adored along with their children & grandchildren. She always wanted to know about or attend any event that involved them.
Pat loved Jesus & her family but she had other loves…at the top of the list was her church, George Strait & baseball (especially the Yankees, Wildcats, Rattlers & Brahmas). Her closet is full of t-shirts from her enormous support for each of those teams. She also loved to sew, crochet, quilt & do just about anything involving a needle & thread. She attended George Strait concerts every year until the last several years & was blessed with getting to attend George's Farewell Tour at AT&T Stadium in 2014.
Pat waited until later in life to pursue her college degree. She & Steve graduated at the same time in 1974, he from high school & her from Southwest Texas State University with honors. She taught math at Yoakum Jr. High & Hallettsville Jr. High School.
In the last 10 years, she generously took different family members on traveling adventures to New York, London, Paris, & the Mediterranean. She also took the whole family to the Frio for the last 20 years. It was a summer highlight for everyone.
Pat is survived by: 2 sons, Andy Chapman & wife Mary of Hallettsville, and Steve Chapman & wife Roxanne of Corpus Christi; daughter Carla Jones & husband David; sister-in-law Neilene Chapman; 8 grandchildren, Chans Chapman (Jennifer), Will Chapman (Lori), Leslie Jansky (Tad), Amber Vasquez (Alan), Hailey Chapman, Casey Jones, Lauren Jones, and Chris Jones; 7 great grandchildren, Jacy Chapman, Reese Chapman, Laila Chapman, Caine Chapman, Connor Jansky, Ava Vasquez, and Arden Vasquez; and her beloved dog Paris.
Pat was preceded in death by: husband Banks; parents; 4 brothers, Lloyd, Donald, Jack and Bennett Skelton; and 3 sisters, Alma Smith, Frances Kirk and Glenn Skelton.
