Patrick Valentine Melnar, 74, of Houston, passed away Sept. 12, 2016. He was born on Feb. 15, 1942 to Fred & Veronica Kutach Melnar in Lavaca County, TX. He married Rose Marie Chaloupka on June 17, 1967 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Patrick was honorable discharge from the US Army for service from 1964 to 1970. He worked as a welder for Cameron for many years. He loved to hunt. He would go on yearly hunting trips to Colorado with his brother, Marcus and cousins Daniel & Gilbert Melnar. The majority of his time during hunting season was spent at the deer lease outside of Fredericksburg, TX, with his brother Marcus, friends Charlie Buchanan & Pat Zapata just to name a few.

Patrick is survived by: brother Marcus Melnar of Wharton; sisters-in-law, Agnes Berckenhoff and Frances Janak; brothers-in-law, Frankie Chaloupka, James Chaloupka, Anthony Chaloupka, Daniel Jalufka, and Edmund Janak; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patrick was preceded in death by; his wife Rose, parents, sister Theresa Tuttle, brother Joe Fred Melnar, sister-in-law Theresa Jalufka.

Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Wednesday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at7 pm. Pallbearers Joshua Melnar, Donald Tuttle, Anthony Chaloupka, Jeremy Janak, William Rainosek, Michael Rainosek, Marshall Melnar, and Charles "Buck" Buchanan. Honorary Pallbearers: Raymond Camacho, Gilbert Melnar, Daniel Melnar, Richard Potter, David Goza, Pat Zapata, Larry Jackson, Carl Loper, and Kyle Clark. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Donor's Choice. Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
