Obituary

Patrick B. Hrncir died Wednesday evening, February 17, 2010, in a collision on IH-10 near Columbus, Texas. He was headed home from Houston.

Patrick was born March 21, 1945, to Anton and Marie Hrncir in Shiner, Texas. He was a brother to Anthony, Gladys, Monica, and his twin sister Patricia. He played basketball, football, and ran track at Hallettsville High School until his graduation in 1963.

The Army sent Pat of to Viet Nam as a Specialist 4 by June 25, 1968. There is a picture of Pat at Camp Evans, just north of Huê, as he exams the rocket blast pit where he was working prior to lunch. A Bronze Star Medal, an Air Medal, an Army Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a Viet Nam Service Medal, and a Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal limn how Patrick served our country.

Pat returned to Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, receiving his degree in business in 1971. He and Alecia Muncaster were married June 16, 1973, and moved to family acres north of Hallettsville. Bill and Iris Mae Muncaster, parents of Alecia, lived just down the road. The light of his life, two sons, Shannon and Lance & new daughter-in-law Laura, added to the delight that Moravia became.

Patrick was the smile you saw on entering People's State Bank. As Senior Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors he served both business and community well. He was an active member of the Viet Nam Veterans since retirement. He enjoyed his land, ranching, helping neighbors, and traveling with Alecia.

Patrick is preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Paul, and infant daughter Ashley Elizabeth Hrncir.

Those not listed as survivors know what a friend and compatriot they have lost. Memorial Service at 2 pm, Saturday, February 20, 2010 at First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville. Memorials can be made to the Viet Nam Veterans Post.
