Patricia Ann Schindler, 80, of Hallettsville went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2016 following a brief illness. Born Patricia Ann Weeks on January 19, 1936, to Ellis Joseph (EJ) and Agnes Chestang Weeks of Magnolia Springs, Alabama.
Patricia attended St. John's Catholic School and graduated from Weeks High School in Magnolia Springs, Alabama. After graduation, Patricia moved to Houston with her older sister where she worked and attended business school. While living in Houston she met the love of her life, Leroy James Schindler. They married on October 4, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Houston. Patricia and Leroy were blessed with four beautiful children and seven amazing grandchildren.
Patricia raised her four children and then started a 23 year career at Time Warner Cable. Patricia and Leroy retired in Hallettsville, where she quickly embraced small town life. Patricia was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. She also belonged to the Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA), Hackberry-Shiloh Chapter, where she held the position of Secretary. She was a member of the Lavaca Medical Center Auxiliary (also known as "the pink ladies") where she volunteered. She also participated in other groups including: Christian Mothers at Sacred Heart, the Prayer Circle group of Ezzell and the Ezzell Church of Christ Bible study where she attended weekly. Patricia loved people and never met a stranger. After becoming a widow in 2008, she successfully continued to run the family farm. She loved traveling, attending church picnics and playing cards & dominos with her friends. Patricia was very proud of her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Patricia is survived by her son, Darrell Schindler of Houston, daughters Brenda Ellis and husband Ricky Ellis of Spring, Tracy Burke of San Diego, CA and Teresa Miller and husband Mark Miller of Hempstead. Grandchildren: 1st LT Taylor Amberson, Ryan Ellis, Ashlyn Ellis, Kyndall Ellis, Alexandra Burke, Joshua Burke and Zachary Burke. She has numerous nieces and nephews and one special niece, Angela DeFoe of Bryant Arkansas. Patricia had many great friends in the Ezzell area and the family would like to acknowledge a few that played a special role in her life: Lorene Stork, Virginia Krobot, Joyce Koonce, Sharon Leopold, Joyce Klimitchek, Anthony Henneke and Charles & Geraldine Klimitchek. The family especially wishes to thank her long-time cardiologist, Dr. Anthony Gunawan, of Houston, who she simply referred to as, 'my doctor' for helping to keep her healthy for the past 43 years.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters Erma Landrum and Voncille Bishop.
Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at7 pm. Pallbearers: Taylor Amberson, Ryan Ellis, Joshua Burke, Zachary Burke, Jimmy Hauge, and James Sladecek. Honorary Pallbearers: Charles Klimitchek, Anthony Henneke, David Foltyn and Dr. Anthony Guanawan. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Church Endowment or Building Fund, The American Heart Association, Abandoned Animal Rescue (AAR) of Tomball TX or Donor's Choice. Entombment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
