“Ottie” Botard

Oscar Louis "Ottie" Botard, 96, of Lexington, TX, passed away Sept. 15, 2015. He was born on Aug. 5, 1919, to Adolph W. & Harriett Ellison Botard in Sheridan, TX. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1953 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant. He retired from Shell Oil Company after 30 years and then took care of his water well business and his ranch on a full-time basis. Ottie enjoyed gardening, working with his cattle, and most of all reading the Bible and witnessing for the Lord.
Ottie married Mary Lou Tracy on September 25, 1994; they moved to Lexington, Texas in 2007. They were members of the Tanglewood Baptist Church in Tanglewood, Texas.
Ottie leaves his wife of 20 years, Mary Lou Botard; his son, Louis and his wife, Sharlotte; two granddaughters, Rachel and Tina; two great grandchildren, Nathan and Mackenzie; and two sisters, Ruth and Dot. He also had a large extended family who loved him very much, which included 3 stepchildren and their families of 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Ottie was preceded in death by: his 1 st wife Mabel Maude "Coochie" Fuller Botard; parents; 2 sisters, Eva Whitley and Edna Hamner; and 4 brothers, Vernon, Allen "Bill", Lee and Roy Botard.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville. Visitation: 6 -8 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Jeff Johnson, Greg Dobiyanski, Brian Tracy, Nathan Green, Bill Dellinger, and Phil Dellinger. Officiant: Pastor Calvin Botard. Burial: Cheetham Cemetery, Sheridan, TX.
