Mr. Oscar M. Kusy, 79, of St. John, TX, formerly of Houston, died Dec. 23, 2007. He was born on Aug. 6, 1928 to Edward E. & Bozena (Bessie) Sokol Kusy in the St. John Community. He served in the US Air Force from Aug. 9, 1946 to June 9, 1948. He married Mary Jalufka Kusy on May 12, 1949 in Hallettsville.

Oscar was a man that enjoyed gardening, farming and refinishing furniture. He loved animals, but most of all he loved his family.

Oscar is survived by: daughter Wanda Kusy-Carpenter & husband David of Katy; granddaughter Stephanie Kusy-Wilson; step-daughter Kathy Jalufka McLane; brother Valentine Kusy & wife Bernice of Needville; 3 sisters, Marcella Pelzel & husband Jim of Rosebud, Zanka (Sy) Swaim & husband Eddie of New Orleans, and Jerrilyn Patek of Houston; and sister-in-law Evelyn Kusy of St. John.

Oscar was preceded in death by: wife Mary on Dec. 26, 1957; parents; brother Edward E. Kusy; sister Annie Kusy; brother-in-law Daniel Patek; and nephew Steven Kusy.

Service: 1 pm, Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 7 pm to 9 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Pastor Eddie Swaim. Pallbearers: Luke Kusy, Edward J. Kusy, Michael Kusy. Jimmy Kusy, Lee Kusy, and Alvin D. Berger . Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery.
