Oscar was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Church, VFW, and American Legion. As a young man Oscar served our United States Army. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Ribbon, & (Japan) Victory Ribbon and ended his service as a Stenographer with an Honorable Discharge. He enjoyed dinner club, dancing and spending his time hunting, fishing, and being outdoors at the farm.
Oscar is survived by: 1-son Tim Barta & his wife Julia of Katy, Texas; 2-Grandsons Matt and Mark Barta both of Houston; 1-brother Clarence Barta & his wife Mary Rose of Shiner; plus several nieces.
Oscar is preceded in death by: Wife Irene; Parents; 1-son Michael Lee Barta; 1-infant son Marc Anthony Barta; 1-brother James Barta.
Funeral Service: 10am Friday Oct. 30, 2009, at Sacred Heart Church. Visitation: 4pm, Thursday Oct. 29, 2009, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7pm Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: David Kotzebue, Kyle Kotzebue, Brad Kotzebue, Matt Barta, Mark Barta, and Pete Revel. Honorary Pallbearers: Ben Sustr and Marvin Cernik. Memorials: Sacred Heart Church. Burial: St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Schulenburg, Texas.
