Obituary

Nora Mae "LaNora" Konvicka, 78, of Hallettsville, passed away on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, after her second battle with cancer. She was born on June 10, 1938 in DeRoche, Arkansas, to Eunice & Henry Kent. Nora married the love of her life, Henry Konvicka, on March 4, 1989 in Houston, TX, and together they started their life in Hallettsville.

Nora was very active in the V.F.W. and served twice as District 24 President; and in the America Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She started the Veterans Appreciation Day in Hallettsville 17 years ago, to honor all veterans and their families' for their service to our country. In 2011, Nora retired from her beauty shop "Lanora's Beauty Salon" after 53 years.

Nora is survived by: son Mark Parker & wife Deseray of Hallettsville; daughter Marcell Follis of Houston; 6 grandchildren (she loved dearly); Luke, Lauren & Tony Parker, and Ryan, Todd & Tyler Follis; and 2 great grandchildren, Hunter and Brody Follis.

Nora was preceded in death by; her parents, husband Henry, oldest son Michael Anthony Prince, and brother Donald Lee Kent.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at7 pm. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Elvin Johnton, Don William, Marvin Lockhart, Charles Grafe, Matt Offe, and Joe Kovar. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hospice of South Texas, The Veteran's Appreciation Day Fund or Donor's Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
