Nellie Marie Hermes Riebschlaeger Janak, 79, resident of Garden Villa Nursing Home in El Campo, formerly of Koerth, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Nellie was born to Matthew and Valeria Hermes living and working in the Lavaca County area. Before retiring, she was a teacher's aide for many years at Sacred Heart School of Hallettsville.

Nellie is survived by son Daniel Riebschlaeger & wife, Sybil, of Pearland; grandson, Kevan, and great-granddaughters, Faith and Grace. Daughter, Jonella McGovern & husband William of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Shaun, Kristine, and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Clayton, Garrett, Madison, Loren, and Ella. Daughter Sheila Kuenstler & husband David of El Campo; and grandson Trey. Two brothers, George Hermes of Edna, and James Hermes of Victoria, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nellie was preceded in death by: her parents; son Reginald Riebschlaeger; and husbands, Victor Riebschlaeger and Eugene Janak.

Funeral Mass Service: 1 pm, Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Koerth, Texas. Visitation: 4 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Thursday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Charles Sonnier. Pallbearers (grandchildren): Kevan Riebschlaeger , Shaun and Ryan McGovern, Trey Kuenstler, Kristine and Nathan Parker. Honorary Pallbearers (great grandchildren): Clayton, Garrett, and Madison McGovern, Loren and Ella Parker, Grace and Faith Riebschlaeger. Burial: Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Sweet Home, Texas. Memorials: Nellie, a loving caregiver, per family request, can continue her love and care through donations to the American Cancer Society.
