Obituary

Milton J Haas Jr., 71, of Hallettsville, passed away June 5 2019 after a 10 year courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 25, 1947, the first of four sons to Milton J Haas Sr. and Edna (Woytek) Haas, in Hallettsville. He graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1965. After graduation, he entered the military in August 1967 and then was deployed to Vietnam. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, retired from the US Army; and member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Veterans of Vietnam and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Milton married Linda Kay Appelt on October 18, 1967, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. In the years to follow they were blessed with three sons, Milton III and twins Nathan & Nicholas.

Milton worked for H.B. Zachry for 35 years in the construction and maintenance field serving as a pipe fitter superintendent. After his retirement he worked as a cattle rancher on his property in Worthing and on the homestead off Vsetin highway in Hallettsville.

Milton was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who enjoyed the company of his many lifelong friends. Their many adventures have been told and retold around the campfire. He and his 6 grandchildren, spent many fun filled hours riding around on the John Deere gator and his tractor he so enjoyed.

Milton is survived by: his wife Linda of 51 years; his children, Milton III & wife Jennifer, Nathan & wife Missy, and Nicholas & wife Abbey; his 5 grandchildren, Benjamine, Taylor, Madison, Isabella and Hudson; and 3 brothers, Roger Paul, Michael Ray and David Allen Haas.

Milton is preceded in death by; his parents, Milton Sr. & Edna, and grandson Christopher Haas.

Funeral Mass Service : 11 am, Monday, June 10, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm to 5 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home; with the Rosary starting at 6 pm at Sacred Heart Church . Pallbearers: Milton Haas III, Nathan Haas, Nicholas Haas, Roger Haas, Michael Haas, David Haas, Andrew Haas and Kevin Bright. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, MD Anderson Cancer Center or Donor's choice. Burial: Geiger Cemetery, Sublime, Texas.
