Mildred Trlica Zatopek, 100, of Schulenburg, passed away February 21, 2022. She was born on September 1, 1921, to John & Angelina Krause Trlica on a farm in Moravia Texas. She married Joe Zatopek on September 5, 1939, at Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church, they farmed in Moravia until the mid-50's when the extreme drought forced them to move to Houston. While residing in Houston, she worked as a professional seamstress at Trudy's Style Shop until retiring.
Upon the passing of Joe, Mildred moved back to the family homestead in Moravia where she grew up. She dearly loved playing pool and listening to polka music, gardening, crossword puzzles, playing Dominoes and Bingo. Above all, she loved going to the local dances and dancing to polka music. At one of these dances, she met Charlie Hajek. Several years later they married and spent 16 years together.
Mildred liked to bake Kolaches, and at Christmas she especially enjoyed making her Apple Strudels for family members as gifts. She adored her granddaughters and always enjoyed spending time with them. Throughout her long life, she enjoyed going to different events, shopping and especially going to church and parish picnics with her best friend Almeda Poth.
Mildred spent her later years in life at the Regency Nursing Home in Schulenburg, where she was happy, enjoyed playing Dominoes and Bingo with the other residents. She bragged on the great food and how well she was taken care of by the staff.
Mildred is survived by: 2 sons, Alan Zatopek and Everett Zatopek & wife Mary Jane; and 2 grandchildren, Kristina & Lisa Zatopek.
Mildred was preceded in death by; 1 st husband Joe Zatopek. 2 nd husband Charles Hajek, parents and son Larry Zatopek.
Funeral Mass Service: 11 am, Monday, February 28, 2022, at Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church of Moravia, TX; Visitation starting at 10 am with Rosary starting at 10:30 am. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Burial: Ascension of our Lord Catholic Cemetery. Memorials: Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church or charity or your choice.
