Mrs. Mildred L. Harper, 82, of Hallettsville, Texas, died October 1, 2006. She was born on June 18, 1924 in Lavaca County, Texas to Henry Clay & Mary Jane Johnson Vick. She married Roy H. Harper on Oct. 9, 1943 at home in Hallettsville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville.

Mildred is survived by: husband Roy of 62 years of marriage; daughter Mary Jane Blum & husband Wesley of Conroe, Texas; 2 grandsons Ronald Blum & wife Tracy of Howe, Texas, and Roy Blum & wife Cathy of Conroe; 4 great-granddaughters Brittany, Brooke, Courtney, and Riley Blum; nephew Bobby Clark & wife Fryrene; niece Barbara Culp & husband Lindy; and other great nephews and nieces.

Mildred was preceded in death by: parents Henry Clay & Mary Jane Johnson Vick; brother Allie Clay Vick; 2 sisters one at infancy and Marion "Sis" Clark.

Service: 2 pm, Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: Noon, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville, with the family receiving visitors between 6 pm to 8 pm that night. Officiate: Rev. Lundy Hooten. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers: Ronald Blum, Roy Blum, Bobby Clark, Scott Jones, Richard Bierman, and J.J. Isbell. Memorials: Texas Children Hospital or First United Methodist Church of Hallettsville.
