Mike Brocker, Jr., 95, of Hallettsville, was born on July 19, 1921 to Mike and Alma Bonorden Brocker in Lavaca County, TX. On the 19th of August 2016, Mike passed away peacefully of natural causes. Mike was being visited and comforted by family members at his time of passing.
Mike met the love of his life, Marie Needham, and they were married on February 7, 1948 in Lavaca County, Texas. He and his loving wife were married for 65 years living their entire married life on Brocker Hill.
Mike served our country from November 27, 1942 and was honorably discharged on November 12, 1945. He was a sergeant in Company B 185th Infantry. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Bronze Arrowhead for amphibious assault landing, and 3 Bronze Service Stars for Bismark Archipelago, Luzon and Southern Philippines Campaigns; Philippine Liberation Metal with Bronze Service Star for initial landing operation and engagement against the enemy in the campaign; the Purple Hearts; Victory Ribbon; 1 Service Stripe; and 5 Overseas Service Bars.
Mike was a farmer and rancher, cutting and baling hay throughout the area. Fishing and hunting were some of his greatest joys and he spent many hours on the river teaching his family his special techniques to fill the freezer with fish. He spent many hours in his garden tending his vegetable crops and sharing his vegetables with family and friends.
Mike is survived by: 4 children, Carol Barre (Tommy) of Yoakum, Doris Clark (Bob) of Yoakum, Patty Brocker of Hallettsville, and Darryl Brocker of Hallettsville; 12 grandchildren, Kristen McCarty (Ben) of College Station, Leah Bordovsky (RL) of Victoria, Bradley Pustejovsky of Hallettsville, Denny Barre (Tracey) of Corpus Christi, Rachel Parsons (Rick) of Yoakum, Paula Grahmann (Michael) of Hallettsville, Melodie Johnson (Jake) of Afton, Wyoming, Michael Schindler (Valorie) of Hallettsville, Aric Brocker (Jamie) of Hallettsville, Brittany Brocker of Hallettsville, Brent Brocker of Hallettsville, Kirsten Brocker and Briar Brocker of Hallettsville; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by: his loving wife Marie; son David Keith Brocker; 2 great granddaughters, Haven Marie Pekar and Kaylen Renee Schindler; and 3 sisters, Alma Appelt, Josephine Dennison and Iona Gray.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 5 pm to 7 pm, Monday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers (Grandsons): Bradley Pustejovsky, Michael Schindler, Aric Brocker, Briar Brocker, Dylan Pekar, Kyler Pekar, Derek Dickinson, and Brent Brocker. Officiant: Rev. Raymond Hagan. Memorials: Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust Avenue, Victoria, Texas 77901 or St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 100 N. Promenade, Hallettsville, Texas 77964. Burial (With Military Honors): Hallettsville City Cemetery.
