IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Zane
Mccord
July 11, 1957 – July 18, 2012
Growing up in the country, he attended Hope and Ezzell Schools. Once he completed his 8th grade year, he moved on to Hallettsville High School. He made a lot of friends and had a lot of fun during those years. During high school, he worked for Polydynamics in Hallettsville until shortly after he graduated in 1977. After high school, he moved in with his dad for a short time while he worked for Brown & Root near Victoria, TX.
On June 10, 1980, he married Vivian Vasek, and shortly after they found out they were going to have a baby. Amanda came into their lives on January 5, 1981. She was instantly "Daddy's Little Girl". They lived in town for a little while, but eventually moved to Ezzell. On February 5, 1984, the family expanded when Brandon was born. Then on November 14, 1986, Brian was born. He would complete their family. Brandon & Brian were his boys and they loved spending time with their dad. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on engines & motors and just simply being around each other. You would rarely find Zane sitting around doing nothing. He absolutely loved the outdoors. He frequently would just sit outside and listen to music. He loved music and he loved to play it LOUD. One of his favorite bands was "Creedence Clearwater Revival".
Zane eventually left Brown & Root and worked a brief time for Drymalla Construction. Then an opportunity came up for him to become the manager at the local Dairy Queen. He would keep this position for 21 years, and would obtain many achievements during that time with the company. One of his proudest awards was the "Golden Cone", an award for most soft serve ice cream in his district. He got to know many people in the community during his time working there, and enjoyed visiting with them.
In 1992, he lost his brother Kenneth. He and Kenneth were very close and it was a very difficult time for him as well as the rest of his family.
He always loved spending time with his family and had a huge heart. He and his cousins, the Schlageters, and Tommy Koonce shared many good memories together during their get togethers. He always looked forward to them coming to Ezzell so he could visit with them and have a good time.
Zane was a rebel at heart and truly lived during his short 55 years here with us. His vibrant spirit will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Until we meet again … 'Christmas Every Day".
