Melva Dean Quinney, 82, of Sheridan, passed away Nov. 16, 2016. She was born on Feb. 20, 1934 to Elige & Ferraby Selph Briscoe in Sexton, TX. She met Jessie Bruce (Boots) Quinney at Sheridan Cafe, and it was love at first sight. They married on January 6, 1950, after a three-month romance, at First Baptist Church of Sheridan. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vienna.

Melva is survived by: her husband Boots of 66 years; son Darrell Quinney & wife Cynthia of Sheridan; 2 daughters, Cynthia Gohlke & husband David of Sheridan, and Jennifer Bartek & husband Brian of Katy; grandchildren, Bradley Gohlke, Jeremy Gohlke and wife Elvira, Jessica Cunningham and husband Kevin, Quinton Bartek, Quaid Bartek, Drew Quinney and wife Brianna, and Cynthia Quinney; and great grandchildren, Hunter, twins Sarah & Lauren Gohlke, Dylan Cunningham, and Braxton Bartek.

Melva was preceded in death by: her parents; 3 sisters, Eunice (Tootie) New, Yvonne Botard, and Sadie Waddell; and 2 brothers, Edward (Bud) Briscoe and Mack Ray (Honey Boy) Briscoe; and grandson Justin Bartek.

Funeral Service: 2 pm, Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Kubena Funeral Home. Visitation: 4 pm, Saturday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Bradley Gohlke, Jeremy Gohlke, Quinton Bartek, Drew Quinney, Quaid Bartek, Ryan Dunn, and Hunter Gohlke. Officiant: Brother Henry Learn. Memorials: Sheridan Library Fund or Donor's Choice. Burial: Cheetham Cemetery, Sheridan, TX.
