IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Masimo Joseph
Dela Rosa
May 11, 1935 – December 22, 2014
Masimo Joseph DeLaRosa was born on May 11, 1935 to Pedro Sr. and Pauline (Hernandez) DeLaRosa, in Hallettsville. He had 12 brothers and sisters. He married the love of his life, Geneva Barrera DeLaRosa on August 18, 1956 at Koerth Catholic Church. They had four children: Yolanda, Masimo, Stephen, and Debbie, who all attended Hallettsville schools.
Masimo worked in construction, and later retired from the county. He continued to help people around the community mowing lawns, picking pecans, and tending people's farms. He was a very talented man in all things mechanical. Anytime anyone needed anything repaired, they knew who to call. He also sold countless wooden birdhouses, benches, tables, crosses, and other unique items he enjoyed making in his woodshop at his home. Many people in the community have a special piece of his handcrafted furniture in and around their homes. He had many hobbies including spending time with his family, building wood furniture, going to Coushatta with Geneva, repairing old machinery and fishing. He also loved his family game days when he played Mexican Train dominoes and card games.
Masimo and Geneva's nine grandchildren have priceless memories of going to "Granny and PoPo's" house. It was here that they were truly spoiled by their grandparents, not only with food and toys, but with their undivided attention. Years later, twelve great-grandchildren would enjoy the same experiences and make the same memories. He lived for his wife, four children, nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Masimo was a shining example of God's love projecting through a human being. He never uttered a negative word about anyone, and showed his kindness by helping others no matter what they needed. His best personality traits were his sweet demeanor and his lively sense of humor. He was truly a kind and gentle soul.
Masimo is survived by his wife, Geneva DeLaRosa, and children: Yolanda and husband Wayne Butschek, Masimo and wife Brenda, Stephen and wife Darlene, and Deborah DeLaRosa. Grandchildren: Carmen (Butschek) Appelt, Joseph DeLaRosa, Justin Butschek, Robert Munsch, Robyn Butschek, Amanda DeLaRosa, Jonathan DeLaRosa, Stacie Munsch, and Allison (DeLaRosa) Swinney. Great-Grandchildren: Weston Appelt, Tyler Butschek, Trace Butschek, Garrett Appelt, Kaidan Contreras, Savannah Munsch, Juliet DeLaRosa, Trent Butschek, Clayton DeLaRosa, Clara Contreras, Bradley Swinney, and Miranda DeLaRosa. He is also survived by four brothers: Lupe, Octaviano "Coop", Henry, and Tony; and three sisters: Natividad Neubauer, Frances Garza, and Cecilia Banda.
