Obituary

Mary Ann Watson, 81, of Hallettsville, TX. passed from this earthly life in the early morning of March 26, 2022. Mary Ann was born on September 7, 1940, in Bellville, TX.  She was the first daughter of 3 to Ferdinand and Anna Beth Strauss Geyer.  Mary Ann was baptized Catholic at birth.  Shortly after, she began her Lutheran journey.

Mary Ann married Lanny Lee Watson, January 26, 197, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Spring Branch (Harris County).  Lanny proceeded her in death.  Mary Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister.  She was a warm empathetic, compassionate person with a good sense of humor, a great smile, a stranger to no one.   Mary Ann moved to Hallettsville in 2010, incorporating herself into the community and lifestyle by volunteering at LAMB, Lavaca Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary, and Red Hats.  She supported her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren by actively cheering on sporting events and scholastic endeavors at every level.  She graduated in Baytown, TX from "Robert E Lee High School"; thereafter she married William F. Wallace, Jr. (Billy).   They had 2 children, Deborah Annette Zornes and William (Rusty) F. Wallace III.  She attended Kilgore Jr. College.  Mary Ann worked at Exxon Mobile in the accounting department for 30 plus years.  She retired at 55 years old and traveled avidly.

Mary Ann was a member of the Shiner Lutheran Church.  She was passionate in regard to her faith and her belief in Martin Luther's precepts; this steadfast faith and belief inspired her volunteer service. She loved art, painting, drawing, volunteering at Lamb, the Hospital gift shop, and the Red Hats. Mary Ann looked forward to having her hair done every Thursday by Doris Gruebert. She spent many hours, starting months ahead of time, shopping for gifts of every sort. Every Holiday feast was vested with her time and energy, ensuring that everyone had their favorites. Mary Ann was an avid reader and traveler, visiting 49 states and many countries internationally.  She desired a well-deserved trip to Vermont, which would have completed her travels throughout the United States.  She traveled all over the Western hemisphere with highlights in Mexico, Canada, Europe, England, Scotland, Greece and the Holy Land.  She enjoyed multiple cruise ship journeys with Lanny and close friends.

MaryAnn will forever be loved and missed by those who survive her.
