Obituary

Mary Migl, 93, of Hallettsville, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 16, 2024, with her family at bedside, after being given Last Rites.  She was exceptional woman, with remarkable strength & unwavering faith.

Mary was born on October 5, 1930, to the late Reinhold & Mary Herbst Koenig Sr. in Hallettsville.  She married Willie C. Migl on June 26, 1977, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville, and blessed with 40 years of marriage he passed away in 2017.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Christian Mother, American Business Women's Association, Hermann & Sons and the Czech Chior.

Mary attended Sacred Heart School, being Valedictorian of the first graduating class of 1948.  She worked for SW Bell in Houston for 8 years.  After returning to Hallettsville, she worked for Otto Goedecke, Inc. as a PBX operator for 10 years.  She began her banking career at First National Bank and ended her career with Well Fargo.  She retired from Wells Fargo working into her 80's.  She always had a cheerful smile on her face and a sweet, pleasant personality.

Mary is survived by:  daughter Darlene Appelt (Mike); son Ron Pekar; 2 grandchildren, Steven Pekar and Tori Williams; and 4 great grandchildren, Grace, Makaya, Bethany & Michael Williams.

Mary was preceded in death by:  husband Willie; parents; son James Jonathan Pekar; 5 brothers, Joe, Reinhold Jr., Lawrence, Marcus and Henry Koenig; and sister Frances Turk.

Funeral Mass Service: 10:30 am, Monday, April 22, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville; with Visitation starting at 9 am; and Rosary starting at 10 am. Pallbearers: Don Koenig, Chris Turk, Peyton Turk, Rob Koenig, Dennis Tousek and Sam Migl. Honorary Pallbearers: Tori Williams and Steven Pekar. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials: Sacred Heart Church/School or donor's choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
