Obituary

Mary Golsch, 79, of Hallettsville, passed away Oct. 3, 2013. She was born at home on March 11, 1934 to William & Mary Janak Barton in Hallettsville. She was 4th youngest of 5 siblings. Most of her childhood was spent on the family farm in Koerth, when her family moved there when she was a young girl.

Mary married Siegfried E. Golsch on Sept. 20, 1959 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Koerth. She worked as a dental assistant for 43 years in Hallettsville, and retired at the young age of 75. She had an incredible work ethic; never missing a day of work, after work, she would devote an equal amount of time into raising a family and the daily work of running a farm. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, KJZT Society #2, and her faith and devotion to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. She loved the Blessed Mother and said several Rosaries a day and never missed a day of prayers.

Mary loved music, she came from a musical family, it was very common for her to sit around with her parents, brothers and sisters, and played instruments and sing after a long day of work in the fields. She played the guitar and piano, but was known for her voice. When she was still at home, her brothers and her would travel locally to play instruments and singing at local events. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice, and for many years she sang in the church choir.

Mary loved the outdoors; she maintained up to three gardens and always had hundreds of flowers and bushes growing throughout the yard. She loved to watch nature, loved animals, anytime she wanted to relax, she went outside to work in the garden, prune the bushes and just sit and watch nature, and maybe say a prayer. Working outside was her serenity.

Family was always first, she always made sure we had everything we ever needed, even if it meant going without it herself. She had a big heart and always made sure that others were taken care of first. Her world revolved around her family. She was caring and loving, she was the one who held our family together and made it strong. She was the foundation that kept us strong.

Mary is survived by: son Dennis Golsch & wife Tessa of Cibolo, TX; daughter Jennifer Golsch of Hallettsville; and 2 grandchildren, Dane & Tory Golsch.
