Obituary

Marvin C. Steffek, 82, of Hallettsville, passed away May 31, 2013. He was born the youngest of child of three, on June 9, 1930 to Charles & Ellen Meyer Steffek in Hallettsville. He was a registered professional engineer, a member of the American Legion and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

Marvin was raised on a farm on LCR 187 with sisters, Libertha Einkauf of Hallettsville and Irene Morgan of Pasadena, TX. As a young boy he helped his parents on the farm with raising crops, cattle, horses, hogs, turkeys, chickens, and hay. After graduating from Hallettsville High School, he served 4 years in the Air Force. He attended Wharton Junior College, and graduated from the University of Houston. After working 41 years for Southern Engine & Pump Company (SEPCO), he retired and returned to the Hallettsville area in 1996. Considered a friend by many, Marvin loved working with his cattle and improving his home and property.

Marvin is survived by: 2 sisters, Libertha Einkauf of Hallettsville, and Irene Morgan of Pasadena, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Kyle Einkauf, Dennis Haas, Richard Henke, Greg Morgan, Stephen Morgan, and Shane Nichols. Officiate: Msgr. John Peters. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): American Cancer Society or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
