Obituary

Marvin E. Rabel, 84, of Hallettsville, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016. He was born in Hallettsville on Dec. 30, 1931 to Joe & Mary Cada Rabel. He served in the US Army during the Korean War (1953-1955). He was a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge 4 of Hallettsville, KJT #6 Dubina, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Marvin married Lillian (Cernoch) Rabel on Sept. 14, 1958, and lived in Houston for 35 years until his retirement. He spent his entire career as a Fabrication Pipe Fitter, and was a member with Pipe Fitters Local 211.

Marvin, in his younger days, enjoyed fishing and hunting. He retired in 1994, and he and his wife moved to Hallettsville on their small farm. He enjoyed his great granddaughters, Roxy, Reyna, and Remi Lores. He also loved going to casinos when he was able. Lucy, his dog, always gave him joy.

Marvin is survived by: his wife Lillian of 57 years; granddaughter Ashley Lores & husband Ricky; grandsons Anthony & Jonathan Pundt; 3 great grandchildren, Roxy, Reyna and Remi Lores; and with other relatives and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death: his parents; 2 sons, Stacey and Glenn Rabel; and 2 brothers, Alphonse and James Rabel.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Monday, June 6, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: 4 pm, Sunday, at Kubena Funeral Home with Rosary starting at 6 pm. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Darrell Rabel, Donald Rabel, Ricky Lores, Ricky Demel, Barry Demel, and Brent Rainosek. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or School, or donor's choice. Entombment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
