Obituary

Marvin Rudolph Pekar, 70, of Stafford, passed away Sept. 19, 2011, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Sweet Home, on July 4, 1941. He served his country and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion of Hallettsville, and Holy Family Catholic Church of Missouri City.

Marvin never met a stranger, enjoyed country living and his cattle. Greatest love was his children and grandchildren. He worked as a machinist for 38 years in Missouri City.

Marvin is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty Jean"; daughter Kimberly Hance & husband David of Sugarland; son Jason Pekar & wife Beth of Sugarland; 3 brothers, Daniel Pekar of Houston, Adolph Pekar of Katy, and Joe Pekar of Sweet Home; 3 sisters, Margaret Kunetka of Sweet Home, Carrie Kacir of Victoria, and Lillian Pullin of Cuero; 4 grandchildren, Harper & John Hance, Emma & Ava Pekar; and numerous Nieces & Nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death: by his parents Adolph & Carrie Roller Pekar, and brother August Pekar.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Sweet Home. Visitation: 5 pm, Friday, at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Charles Sonnier. Pallbearers: Mark Pekar, Michael Pekar, Jeff Pekar, Monty Janak, Marty Janak, and Randy Kristek. Memorials (in lieu of Flowers): The Charity of Your Choice. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
