Obituary

Marvin L. Patek, 66, of Hallettsville, passed away April 24, 2012. He was born on July 29, 1945 to Victor & Annie Vavricka Patek Sr. in Shiner. He married Earlene Fajkus on August 28, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Flatonia. He was a member of the American Legion, 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Hallettsville Volunteer Fire Department, South Texas CCA Chapter and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville.

Marvin enjoyed spending time with his 6 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild as well as riding around his farm on the golf cart with his 2 furry friends, Sonny & Milo. He loved to fish and relax at his beach house in Rockport and never turned down a trip to Louisiana to gamble. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending every minute of every day with the love of his life, Earlene.

Marvin is survived by: wife Earlene of 46 years; 2 sons, Curtis Patek and Marty Patek of Sweet Home; 2 daughters, Sheri Poth & husband Ted of Katy, and Stacie Collins & husband Blake of Katy; 3 brothers, Ervin Patek & wife Mary of Moulton, Victor Patek Jr. & wife Karen of Shiner, and Michael Patek & wife Rose of Shiner; 6 sisters, Dorothy Fojtik & husband Daniel of Moulton, Ann Meyer & husband Robert of Houston, Carol Smith of Katy, Delores Bannert of Katy, Darlene Kresta & husband Tim of Shiner, and Rosie Ross & husband James of Gonzales; 6 grandchildren, Haley Patek, Alixandria Poth, Abigail Poth, Ashton Poth, Addison Poth, and Chase Collins; and 1 great grandchild Brianna Searcy.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosary: 7 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. John Peters. Pallbearers: Duane Fojtik, Kevin Patek, Cameron Kresta, Ryan Bannert, Matthew Patek, and Sidney Jasek. Burial: Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery of Sweet Home. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
