Marvin David
Fertsch
October 20, 1916 – August 5, 2006
Marvin obtained his college education from the University of Texas at Austin and became an attorney on July, 1941. He practiced law with his father, Charles Louis Fertsch, Jr., in Hallettsville, TX, from 1942-1947 and was a State Representative from Lavaca County, TX, from 1945-1948. He worked for the Frost National Bank in San Antonio starting in August, 1947, and retired on January 1, 1979, as the Vice President in Trust Administration.
Marvin was a member of the Lions Club in Hallettsville, Stamp Club in San Antonio, Bowling teams, and a member of the Lutheran Church most of his life, at present St. Luke Lutheran Church in San Antonio. His hobby over the years has been tracing the Fertsch family at far back as the 1500s.
Marvin is survived by: wife Gladys (60 years of marriage); daughter Betty Gail Fertsch; and 1-granddaughter Bridget Nicole Best; 1-great-grandson Christopher, all of San Antonio; and sister-in-law Eleanor Fertsch of Austin
Marvin was preceded in death by: parents Charles Louis Fertsch, Jr. and Hermine (Bonorden) Fertsch; daughter Peggy Joyce Fertsch Greenwall Best; 2-sisters, Patricia Pauline Beck & husband Lorraine, and Lucille Ruth Johnson & husband Murl; and 4-brothers, Clarence J. Fertsch, Delmar Fertsch, Walter Paul Fertsch, and Stanley C. Fertsch.
Graveside Service: 3pm, Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Hallettsville City Cemetery.
