IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin "Lee"
Denison
July 28, 1948 – July 3, 2017
Marvin "Lee" Denison Sr., 68, of Hallettsville, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017. He was born in Houston, TX on July 28, 1948 to Marvin Leon and Willie Fuller Denison. Unfortunately, Marvin lost his father at a very young age, so he was primarily raised by his mother. She was a very strong woman with a heart of gold. Willie moved Marvin at a young age back to Hallettsville, where he attended school. Prior to graduating, Marvin moved to Houston to begin his career as a building contractor.
Marvin moved back to Hallettsville in the early 1970's, and started employment at Morgan's Portable Buildings. He worked tirelessly at Morgan's for over 37 years. Upon retirement, he worked at Patek's Liquor Store to keep himself active and engaged with the public.
Marvin spent many enjoyable hours at the Hallettsville Municipal Golf course. Due to his competitive nature and hours of tireless practice, he won the Kolache Classic Golf Tournament and several other local tournaments in the surrounding area in his younger years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching golf, and car races on TV. Since Marvin grew up around Alvin, TX (hometown of local Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher, Nolan Ryan), he would listen to the radio or watch on TV, whenever Nolan pitched. He enjoyed the many no-hitters and strike outs immensely. He was also an avid fan of Muhammad Ali.
Marvin is survived by: wife of 31 years, Mary Ann Nerada Denison; 3 children, Robert Denison of Bremond, TX, Marvin Denison Jr. of Victoria, and Marsha Denison Miller & husband Shawn of Midland, TX; stepsons, Charles Koehne Jr. & wife Janell of Taylor, TX, Chris Koehne & wife Erin of Thrall, TX, and Jonathan Koehne of Hallettsville; 7 grandchildren, Kaleb, Draven, Chloe and Caden Denison, and Devon, Shawnna and Nathaniel Miller; and 3 step-grandchildren, Sierra, Cade and Bryce Koehne.
Marvin was preceded in death by: his parents; brother Billy Denison of Houston; first wife; Janice Dunaway Johnson; and faithful companion Dachshund, Sara Jean.
