Herbert died on July 13, 1951. Martha remained at the homestead until 1958, when she moved to Hallettsville & began working at Weingarten's. She retired in 1980, and did babysitting in her home for a number of years. She loved working in the yard with her flowers. She was an excellent cook, and was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls, apple strudels and homemade pies. At holidays, her table was spread with pies and rolls. She always made enough to send home with her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when all of her family was home. She was known as "Grandma McCrumb" to many others who visited her home.
Martha is survived by: son Edward McCrumb Sr. & wife Annette of Hallettsville; 5 daughters, Jennie Gregory of Beeville, Ruby Ann Bozka of Pearland, Gail McCord & husband Jim of Inez, Hedy Starling of El Campo, and Judy K. Wagner & husband Arnold of Victoria; 18 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by: her husband Herbert; parents; grandson Jeremiah Teets; brother Charles Pohl; sister Selma Anderson; and sons-in-law Clifton Gregory, Bill Bozka Sr., and Roger Starling.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Friday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Terry Horton. Pallbearers: Edward McCrumb Jr., Blake McCrumb, Arnold Wagner III, Scott Hale, Ronnie Starling, Alan Starling and Rory Starling. Honorary Pallbearers: Don Page, James Page, Steve Page, Rhonda Teets, Becky Klatt, Donna Freeman, Tammy Seiling, Bob Bozka, Bill Bozka, Larry Bozka, Susan Chandler, and Dr. James Drost. Memorials: First Baptist Church or Donor's Choice. Burial: Willow Creek Cemetery, Sublime, Texas.
