Obituary

Martha Sue Hardy (Sue) Parks, 68, was born August 16, 1941 in Pasadena, to C.F. "Jeff" and Martha Hardy. She graduated from Spring Branch High School and attended Texas Christian University. She was a Flight Attendant for TWA for several years before marrying Peter Imbornone, moving to New Orleans and becoming a Mom. She worked at General Electric for many years as an Office Manager before moving to Columbus to help her Mother after her Dad passed away. While in Columbus, Sue became involved with the theatre group and acted in several productions. She was active with local Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy chapters and very involved in church activities. At the age of 49, she decided to pursue a lifelong love of medicine and went back to school to become a Nurse. She worked at El Campo Hospital for several years. She married John Harry Parks July 1, 1992, and shortly after they moved to Corpus Christi, where she worked at Humana Hospital in Oncology. She and John loved being at the beach (" there's always a breeze in Corpus"), but eventually retired to Sublime, where they've lived for 14 years. Sue volunteered at the Food Panty of L.A.M.B., and was a proud member of the Jolly Dolly's chapter of the Red Hat Society. She was very involved at St. James Episcopal and served on the Bishop's Committee and the Ministerial Alliance. Two of her biggest loves at church were the "Get-To-It's" Ladies Bible Study Group, the Memorial Garden she created. She'd spend hours weeding and planting, it brought her so much joy and she hoped it did the same for others. Gardening was a passion! Everywhere she went, if she saw a weed, she'd pull it. She joked that she'd get that one 'wild vine' at St. Peter's gate ... no doubt she did. She also loved her grandbabies, music, sweets and Blue Bell!

Sue leaves behind her husband, John, daughter Stephanie and husband, Josh and grandchildren Macey, Wyatt, Marilla Grayce and Rhett Wade of Spring; Stepdaughter Melissa Kilpatrick, husband Scott and granddaughters Elizabeth and Becca Boulware of Columbus, and Stepson Stafford and wife Sharon Parks of Katy.

Thank you so much for being here to remember a very one-of-a-kind spirit.

Memorial Funeral Service: 11 am, Thursday, March 11 2010 at St. James Episcopal Church of Hallettsville. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): St. James Episcopal Memorial Garden Fund.
