November 5, 1923 – February 7, 2012
Marjorie attended Pleasant Grove School, and graduated from Hallettsville High on May 1941. She was Hallettsville I.S.D. secretary for 6 years, Dept. of Welfare State of Texas for 12 years, and Expanded Nutrition Program – A&M State Program as Supervisor for 3 years. She taught in all departments and 28 years as teacher of Alpha Sunday School. She was WMU Director, Training Union Director, and in the Choir. She was a long life member of First Baptist Church of Hallettsville.
Marjorie is survived by: 2 sons, Mike Schmidt & wife Sheri of Placedo, TX, and Neil Schmidt & wife Cheryl of Corpus Christi; brother Frederick Fahrenthold of Beaumont; 3 sisters, Velda Staggs, Gaye Galetka, and Jean Appelt, all of Hallettsville; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Marjorie was preceded in death by: her husband Bill; son Glenn William Schmidt; parents; 2 brothers, one at infancy and Max Fahrenthold; and sister Dorothy Rother.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Terry Horton. Pallbearers: Ryan, Jeremy, Will, Wesley, Jeffery, and Tyson Schmidt. Honorary Pallbearers: Deacons of First Baptist Church, granddaughters Kristi Durham, Jennifer Cano, and Emily Tillery, and great grandchildren. Memorials: First Baptist Church or Donor's Choice. Burial: Geiger Cemetery, Sublime, Texas.
