Marionell Hemmi Smothers, 83, of Hallettsville, passed away Jan. 15, 2016. She was born on Dec. 31, 1932 to Lutzie & Myrtle Phelps Hemmi in Lavaca County, TX. She married Henry Leon Smothers on Mar. 31, 1955 in Victoria. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hallettsville.

Marionell is survived by: 2 sons, Kenneth J. Smothers & wife Trudy of Columbus, and Steve Smothers & wife Lesa of San Marcos; daughter Sheryl Fabrygel & husband Joe of Hallettsville; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

Marionell was preceded in death by: her husband Leon; parents; brother Carl W. Hemmi; and 2 sisters, Lucille Gerdes and Marjorie Fietsam.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 5 pm, Monday at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Taylor Fabrygel; Ryan, Joshua, Caleb, Nathan and Chris Smothers. Honorary Pallbearers: Bethany Fabrygel, Jason & Kendra Smothers. Officiant: Rev. Joe Ward. Burial: Salem Cemetery.
