Obituary

Marion L. Dominic, 94 of Hallettsville passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2019.

Marion was born October 10, 1925 in Birmingham, Alabama to her parents Alma & Benson McClendon. She attended Howard University where she studied Biology and Art. She and her first husband, Cecil, then moved to Fort Worth where they both studied Religious Education, after they spent most of their lives working for the Baptist Church Community in many capacities. Later they adopted their son, Gregory Randall Lanier, and resided in Miami, New Orleans and Houston. In Houston she and her husband joined Tallowood Baptist Church. Marion also enjoyed working for R. J. Reynolds American and painting in her spare time.

In 1994 Marion retired to Hallettsville with her second husband, Leonard. They enjoyed living in a great country community and were blessed with wonderful neighbors. Marion spent her time gardening, painting, and spending time with her animals. In 2002 Marion joined First Baptist Church in Hallettsville. During her time at the Church Marion worked on many committees; The Floral Committee, The Lord's Supper Committee, and the Fellowship Committee. She also sang in the Choir and played both the Piano & Organ when she could. She dedicated her life to her Faith, Family, and work in the Church.

Marion is survived by: her daughter in Law Patricia Lanier; her grandson Gregory Randall Lanier Jr.; and her other children, Vincent Dominic, Shirley Jones, Mary Gibbens, Lucy Clay and their families.

Marion was preceded in death; by her parents Alma and Benson McClenson, her first husband Cecil E. Lanier, her second husband Leonard L. Dominic, and her beloved son Gregory Randall Lanier.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Hallettsville; with visitation starting at 10 am, Saturday. Pallbearers: John Muth, Paul Muth. Jeremy Woods, Stanley Brown, Justin Brown and Jared Brown. Officiant: Pastor Nick Ferguson. Memorials (In lieu of flowers): First Baptist Church of Hallettsville (FBCHallettsville.com), Hooves and Hounds Rescue (hoovesandhoundsrescue.com - P.O.
