Obituary

Marion Luther Causey, 89, of Hallettsville, formerly of Houston, passed away on August 3, 2010. Marion was born on December 31, 1920, in Terry, Mississippi to Willie Ray and Mary Alma Causey. He served in the United States Navy as a Signalman from January 1942 till December 1945. He attended and graduated from The Beauty Cuttery of Houston in 1946. Marion married the love of his life, Ruby Rogers, on July 29, 1949. He continued his career in 1955 studying in New York at The Beauty College of New York. He was ordained as a Deacon on November 9, 1966 at Garden Oaks Baptist Church in Houston; later serving as a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Hallettsville. After 35 years of owning and operating Causey's Hair Fashion in Houston with his wife, Tinsey, he retired to Hallettsville to continue one of his favorite pastimes, raising cattle. He volunteered at Steven's Nursing and Rehab for 17 years in the beauty shop. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hallettsville.

Marion is survived by: his son Thomas Ray "Tommy" Causey & wife Vickie of Sealy, Texas; daughter Mary Anne Drozd (Mark) of Victoria, Texas; 2 sisters, Willie Bell Eady and Mable Chandler of Mississippi; 3 grandchildren, Regina D. Nelson & husband Bradley of Cat Spring, Texas, Kimberley A. Brannan & husband Cody of Victoria, Texas, and Rachel D. Causey & fiancé John Genzer of Beaumont, Texas; 4 great grandchildren, Bryhten and Luke Powell of Victoria, Texas, and Avery Ward of Beaumont, Texas, and Grayson Genzer; 4 step great grandchildren, Lauren and Braiden Brannan, Madison and Natalie Genzer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Marion was preceded in death by: his wife Ruby "Tinsey"; parents; 2 brothers, John Paul Causey and Jamie Ray Causey; sister Bettina Anne Dees; and son-in-law Michael David Drozd.

A special "Thank You" to Liz Nunnelly, Sammy Newton, the staff of Stevens Nursing and Rehab, Dr. Justin Powell and his staff, and A-Med Hospice for all your care and love.

Visitation: 5 pm, Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Kubena Funeral Home. Prayer Service: 7 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home, conducted by Rev John Peters. Private Graveside Service: 11 am, Friday, August 6, 2010 at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
