IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Medea
Hermes
September 11, 1928 – May 18, 2018
Margaret Medea Hermes, 89 passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas on Friday, May 18, 2018.
Mrs. Hermes was born September 11, 1928 in Cistern, Texas. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice; parents Ambrose and Caroline Gosch; in-laws Paul and Christine Hermes and her brothers Erwin and William "Billy" and sister in law Carol.
Margaret is survived by her son Bradley Paul Hermes and wife, Sone' Hermes of Houston; grandchildren Deleigh Lindsey Hermes, Miles Paul Hermes, Kelli Christine Hermes, and Grace Marcella Hermes. And her brother Donald Crozier and wife Sandra. She is also survived by her in-law and best friend Polly Lowry and her trusted and loyal Ranch Top Hand Jaime Alvarado and his wife Maria; in addition to numerous extended family members.
Margaret married Maurice Paul Hermes in 1962, they built their home on the family ranch in Koerth, Texas. Margaret and Maurice had one child, a son whom they both cherished, Bradley.
Margaret's lifetime career was the Agency Manager for Lavaca County Farm Bureau for 32 years. She was also an active Brahman Breeder and member of the American Brahman Breeders Association.
The most profound of her legacies were work ethic and generosity. And she had a wit that was unsurpassed. Margaret was a leader and respected business woman and rancher in her community of Hallettsville. In addition to being the go-to expert in all things "insurance"; she served as the first female President of Rotary Club, President of the Chamber of Commerce, President of Pilot Club (Yoakum), she also served as a Hospice Volunteer. Margaret's generosity was realized by many. She was a proper lady, always dressed and ready for any occasion with never a hair out of place. She adored and admired her family; her most precious treasures were her grandchildren.
She was also asking for her long time companion of many years ago, her Samoyed named "Nimbus" who no doubt was waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge.
We would like to thank the following caregivers at Parkway Place in Houston for their support and commitment to Margaret's care for the last 5 years: Judy Arroyo, Maria Carvajal, Alba Mosquera, Theresa Gillum and Ifoma "Iffy" Canady.
