Obituary

Margaret Ann Dornak, 62, of Hallettsville, passed away March 20, 2017. She was born on November 6, 1954 to Mike E. & Annie Smirak Dornak in Hallettsville. She was a member of KJZT #53 Wied, Catholic Daughters #797, and Charter Member of SerraClub of the Diocese of Victoria Northwest. She also volunteered at L.A.M.B.

Margaret lived on the family farm in Hallettsville. She attended Vysehrad School and later graduated from Hallettsville High School. Margaret received her LVN degree from Renger Memorial Hospital. She worked at Renger Memorial Hospital and Lavaca Medical Center until her parents health declined. Margaret devoted her time to meet the needs of her elderly parents.

Margaret had a love for animals. Her little dog "Frito", and Buddy Boy were always looking for a treat from her. No cat was a stranger to Margaret. She welcomed many to her farm and loved them dearly.

Margaret loved to be out and about visiting with her many cousins and friends. She was a member of Lavaca Historical Commission and served as the "official" photographer capturing historical events including the restoration of the Lavaca County Courthouse. She was active in the Lavaca County Records Retention Volunteers aka Press Gang and spent many hours preserving the records of Lavaca County. Margaret volunteered many years with the Festival of Lights and Sacred Heart Church decorating for Christmas. She took part in both Sacred Heart and Saint Mary's Church choirs singing for many occasions – both in English and in Czech.

Margaret had a strong Catholic Faith. She assisted religious organizations locally and all over the world – sending rosaries and sponsoring men and women in their Catholic Education.

Margaret is survived by numerous cousins, and was preceded in death by her parents.
