Obituary

Marcia Hrncir, 65, of Moravia, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021.     She was born on December 10, 1955 to Julius "Jake" and Delrose (Bludau) Sandelovic in Hallettsville.

Marcia graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School.  She received a bachelor's degree from Southwest Texas State University, and later her master's degree from University of Houston- Victoria.

Marcia married Mark (Marty) Hrncir on August 2, 1980.  They lived in Victoria until 1985, and then moved to the West Houston/ Katy area, where they raised their children Chase and Brittany.  In 2008, Marcia and Marty moved to Moravia, following Marcia's retirement from her teaching career.

Marcia had a long and fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher, mainly working with special needs and Life Skills students.  She made such a positive impact on countless children and their families.  She formed many lifelong friendships with her coworkers in Katy.  Marcia began working for the Greater Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce in 2012, later becoming its Executive Director.  She made many friends during her time at the Chamber, and helped organize and put on events, including Schulenburg Sausagefest.  She also enjoyed being a member of the Lavaca County Retired Teachers.

Once Marcia had moved back to the area, she felt the desire to help adults with special needs.  In 2014, with the help of generous grants, donations and community members, she founded Peter's Place, a nonprofit day program for adults with special needs, in Lavaca County.

Marcia was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, friend and a devoted worker in the community.  She adored her two granddaughters, and was the most wonderful "YaYa" to them.  Her sense of humor, positive attitude and friendliness will be forever missed, and not forgotten.
