Obituary

Maggie Mae Gordon, 90, of Ezzell, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009. She was born on September 10, 1918 in Weimer, Texas, to Tom and Elizabeth Martin. On October 14, 1952, she married Elice "Allen" Gordon in Hope, Texas

Maggie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family and friends with all of her heart. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church for over 55 years, and treasurer for 20 years. All of her family has wonderful memories of going to church with her. Afterward they would go to her house to enjoy the feast she had prepared all morning before church so that they could eat promptly after church. She was a retired rancher. She worked side by side with her husband Allen daily with the feeding and working of the cattle. She continued caring for her cattle up to the age of 87. She loved to attend Rodeos all over. She loved to watch the Grand Ole Opry on TV. She loved good old country music. She also was a big fan of the fiddlers that came to town during the Fiddler's Frolics every year. Maggie also enjoyed attending reunions. She went to all of her old school reunions as long as she was able. She loved to go to family reunions, even if they weren't her family. Everyone always looked forward to her coming and bringing her "famous" chicken and dressing.

Maggie is survived by: her children, Joe Lee Evans & wife Linda of Victoria, Larry Evans & wife Delores of Koerth, Linda Boedeker & husband Randy of Hallettsville, and Judy Jernigan & husband B.J. of Ezzell; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Evans, Kim Phillips, Terri Bennetsen, Brian Evans, Sammi Silgero, Stacy Allen, Shawn Allen, Jason Kubeczka, Kelly Jernigan, and Misty Pace; and 20 great grandchildren, Makayla, Garrett, Keene, Arielle, Jordan, Justice, Dalton, Tristian, Haile, Amree, Ty Trenton, Lil'Shawn, Abigail, Avery, Anily, Hunter, Seth, Sage, Ty Ashton, and Mckenna.
