Magdalene was born on December 1, 1919, in the Komensky Community, to Adolf and Mary Vesely Sassin. When she was two weeks old, her parents bought a farm in Moravia, where she attended school and helped on the family farm.
On May 26, 1941, she was united in marriage to Jerome Anton Kristek at the Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church in Moravia, Texas. They farmed in and around the Hallettsville area. In 1977, they moved to Yoakum, Texas, where Magdalene continued to live after the death of her Husband in 1981. In 2008, after she suffered a stroke, she went to live at Hallettsville Nursing & Rehab Center.
Magdalene was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always enjoyed her family gatherings and enjoyed cooking for them. She was an avid Bingo and Domino player and loved to win.
Magdalene is survived by: her children, Jerome Kristek Jr. & wife Betty, Maggie Boehm & friend Norbert Janak, and Doris Vitek & husband Alvin; 6 grandchildren, June Foeh & husband Tim, Travis Boehm, Joey Pekar & wife Kim, Bradley Pekar & wife Angie, Denise Steinhauser, and Allysha Toellner & husband Darrell; and 14 great grandchildren, Heather Reynolds, Hailey & Ty Foeh, T.J. & Cody Boehm, Kyle Steinhauser, Hannah Pekar, Eric & Erin Steinhauser, Tyler Hill, Brandon Pekar, Brianna Toellner, Ashley Kristek, and Cpl. Dillon Hlavinka.
Magdalene was preceded in death by: her husband Jerome; parents, grandson Jerome Kristek III, son-in-law David Boehm, Brother Adolph Sassin, and sister Mary Hermis.
Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm, Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Visitation: 11 am to 1 pm, Wednesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rosary: 1 pm, Wednesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Pallbearers: Travis, T.J., & Cody Boehm; Joey & Bradley Pekar; and Eric Steinhauser. Honorary Pallbearers: June Foeh, Denise Steinhauser, Allysha Toellner, and her Great Grandchildren. Officiate: Rev Tommy Chen. Memorials: Senior Citizen Center of Yoakum. Burial: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
