IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mack Arthur
Judd
June 17, 1944 – January 13, 2015
Mack Arthur Judd was seventy years old and born to the late Grady and Lenno Judd on June 17, 1944. He passed peacefully to join the Lord, his parents, brothers, and sister on January 13, 2015 at 7:43 PM while hospitalized in Austin, Texas.
Mack is preceded in death by five brothers, James; William David; L J; Troy Lee; Delbert Ray; and one sister, Elizabeth Sansom. Mack is survived by one sister, Levern Pryor of Mesquite Nevada, thirteen nieces and nephews, numerous grand-nieces and grand- nephews, and friends. He is also survived by his best friend, a Beagle dog named "Blue."
Mack graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1957, as Salutatorian and from the University of Texas in Austin in 1961, with a teaching degree in Special Education. Mack taught at Devereux School System and at Patty Welder, of Victoria, Texas. After his teaching tenure, Mack moved back to Hallettsville to care for his elderly parents.
Mack owned "Mack's Dairy Mart" and a pizza business. Mack's Dairy Mart was recognized for serving the best fried chicken in town and for employing students. He operated with a flexible employment schedule and established business acumen in those he employed. Mack served customers with respect, enthusiasm and hospitality.
Sometime later, Mack became ill and received a heart transplant on March 28, 1998. Mack remained active with the Baptist Church Association, continuing his faith and love for God. In 2005, Mack's health diminished again, this time with kidney failure. On May 4, 2010, Mack received a kidney transplant from his sister, Levern. After his recovery, Mack returned to country-living, tending to a few chickens, cattle, and his dog. During these past few weeks, Mack was exceptionally pleased with the transformation of his property from a rugged-wooded setting into a beautiful, trimmed home site.
Mack had a fond love for his family and friends. He appreciated genealogy and was captivated with the Rutledge and Judd family ancestries. He treasured sharing "old-timers" philosophies, newspaper articles and other historical memorabilia concerning his family.
Mack loved gardening, traveling, ranching, and playing dominoes. Mack enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn football games. Mack was interested in the business development of Hallettsville and had a keen interest in politics.
To his close family and friends, Mack will be valued for his simplistic lifestyle, independence, strong-will, helpful advice, willingness to help anyone in need, and for sharing his loving, compassionate heart.
