Lucie R.
Sitka
August 22, 1921 – May 14, 2006
On October 13, 1942 she married Louis Sitka at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Henry Psencik officiating. Louis went to serve his country during World War II and during this time Lucie stayed with Louis' parents at St. Mary's. Upon Louis return from the service, Lucie and Louis settled at Williamsburg and owned and operated Sitka's Grocery. They also spent their time farming and ranching. Fishing was a hobby that Lucie enjoyed in her spare time, be it salt water or fresh water. She also enjoyed quilting, playing dominoes, spending time with her family, going to the beauty shop, and gardening. Louis passed away in 1990 and Lucie missed him dearly. She continued living at Williamsburg until 2002 when she begin residing at Hallettsville Rehabilitation Center and Nursing Center.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, K.J.Z.T., and Catholic Daughters of Americas.
She is survived by: son Tommy Sitka and wife Charlotte of Hallettsville; 3-daughters, Elaine Schindler and husband Gene of Hallettsville, Doris Grubert and husband Larry of Hallettsville, and Diane Bollom and husband Ronnie of Victoria, Texas; brother Hubert Dornak of Hallettsville; sister Beatrice Melnar of Hallettsville; 9-grandchildren,Troy Schindler, Trina Patek, Ken Schindler, Tara Trlicek, Brandon Grubert, Tamara Grubert, Erinn Bollom, Kaci Bollom, and Garret Bollom; and 9-great-grandchildren, Malory Schindler, Ashten Patek, Alexandra Patek, Tait Schindler, Autumn Patek, Rhett Trlicek, Rylee Trlicek, Trace Patek, and Brandt Trlicek.
She was preceded in death by: husband Louis Adolph Sitka (died May 16, 1990); granddaughter Amber Marie Sitka; parents August and Caroline Kutach Dornak Sr.; 10-brothers, Joseph, Charles, Louis, William, Albert, Rudolph, Michael, August II, Otto, and Thomas Dornak; 3-sisters, Elenora Smirak, Julia Brosch, and Pauline Chaloupka.
Service: 10am, Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation: Noon, Monday at Kubena Funeral Home. Rosaries: 7:30pm, Monday at Kubena Funeral Home, and 9:30am, Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial: St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers: Troy Schindler, Ken Schindler, Brandon Grubert, Garret Bollom, Terry Patek, and Jeff Trlicek. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or School, Hospice of South Texas, St. Joseph High School, or Donor's Choice.
