IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis F.
Rother
January 12, 1953 – May 21, 2009
Louis was a 1971 graduate of Sacred Heart School. While in high school, Louis kicked a 39 yard field goal and if you asked anyone who saw him play football they would all agree that he was "one heck of a player". After high school, Louis attended Southwest Texas University on a football scholarship. However, after one week of practice and so quickly achieving the honor of being placed on the Second Team he decided to follow his heart. Louis returned home to run the dairy. For more than 50 years he loved the dairy business and all the trials, tribulations, and rewards it brought.
Louis and his brother sold commercial beefmaster heifers at the San Antonio Livestock Show for 19 years straight. Additionally, for the past seven years, they sold cattle at the National E6 Beefmaster Sale in Columbus, Texas.
Louis loved his cows both Holsteins and Beefmasters and a good grain and hay crop. He enjoyed hard work, a good rain, improving the places he owned and leased, and baby calves being born unassisted and with no problems nursing. Louis' favorite time of the year was the fall, more particularly, the month of October. This time of the year appealed to him because that was when all the hard work was completed.
Louis was devoted son and brother. During the week, he enjoyed having his mom and sister accompany him to check cows. On Saturday nights, you would find him treating them to a night off from cooking by taking them out-to-eat.
Louis cared deeply for the Church, his family, cattle, and the land he worked. With love in our hearts and tears in our eyes we say to Louis, "We will miss you dearly. May God bless you."
