IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorice Marguerite
Shalhoub Norwood
November 20, 1924 – July 22, 2020
Lorice Marguerite Shalhoub Norwood, 95, of Hallettsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. She was born on November 20, 1924 in Lowell, Massachusetts, to George and Mary Shalhoub. She was the wife to the love of her life, deceased, Brian Norwood, of 52 years and mother of deceased still-born son, Dana Norwood.
Lorice remains in the hearts of her daughter, Nancy Norwood Evans and son in law, James A. Evans III of Hallettsville, Texas and their sons Jacob, Joseph, and James; her sons, Alan Norwood of Hallettsville, Texas and George Norwood of Freiburg, Germany; daughter in law, Daphne Norwood, and grandchildren, Elisabeth Norwood, Peter Norwood, Anna Norwood, Esther Norwood, and Deborah Norwood of Freiburg, Germany; and her great grandchildren, Zoe Kling and Janosch Kling of Germany. All of whom fondly called her "Sitto" given her beloved Lebanese heritage.
Lorice was a graduate of Lowell Business College and the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro, Mass. She was highly recognized in her career as an Assistant Librarian at various Catholic theological libraries in Washington D.C. until the age of 80. She also fulfilled secretarial duties at the Pentagon until the birth of her first child, George.
Lorice relied heavily on her Catholic faith and was known as a prayer warrior and for her "prayer chains" by phone before the age of sharing via the internet. She and her husband were recognized by the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. for their dedication to serving others as they actively participated in volunteering at food pantries and homeless shelters and organizing food donations during the holidays at their parish of Our Lady of Sorrows in Takoma Park, Maryland where many family friends grieve her passing.
Lorice Norwood will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland, with her husband, Brian.
