IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lois Starr
Mcclintock
September 4, 1918 – July 9, 2010
Lois was born in Elkhart, Anderson County, TX on September 4, 1918, to Allen and Alda Connell Starr. As a devoted Christian with a compassionate missionary heart, she was a loving mate to her husband, Haskell McClintock, who died in 1993. She dearly loved her roles as wife, and as mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to five children and their spouses, 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by son David McClintock and Margo of San Marcos TX; daughter Martha S. Greenlaw Stine and Doug of Hallettsville TX; daughter Mary L. Park and David of Alexandria VA and Blanco TX; son Joseph and Nancie of Ankara, Turkey; and son Paul and Connie of Mountlake Terrace WA. She is also survived by her sister Opal Starr Doss of Austin TX.
Lois completed her bachelor's degree at then North Texas State Teachers College in Denton and years later received her master's degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville TX. She lived in Houston for 52 years, after having lived several years each in San Marcos, Nacogdoches and Fort Worth.
She taught for many years in the Spring Branch Independent School District in Houston. She and Haskell were long-time members of Long Point Baptist Church (Houston), where Lois served as a Sunday School teacher and, after her retirement from the Spring Branch schools, a substitute teacher in the church's elementary school.
Wherever Lois and Haskell lived, they made many friends and had a sense of God's calling to serve others. Many visits were made to see elderly friends in their home or at a hospital; countless meals were prepared for visiting ministers and for families of friends who had experienced illness and/or bereavement. The sweet spirit of love and caring were evident in Lois' life even in her last days.
