Lloyd Daniel Spittler, 94, of Sheridan, passed into the arms of his loving Savior on August 2, 2019. He was born on December 24, 1924 in Giddings, Texas to Christine Isabel (Briscoe) Spittler & Howard Bascom Spittler. He married Celia Marie Hall on September 21, 1944 in Caldwell, TX.

Lloyd served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Monteplier CL-57 from August 1943 through December 1945, in the Pacific War Zone. He held the rank of Gunner 3rd Class on Twin 5" Gun Mounts. After his discharge from the Navy, the couple made their home in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Lloyd then had a long career with two refineries- Hess Oil Company in Corpus Christi, TX and later Texas City Refinery in Texas City, TX. After his retirement, he moved to Sheridan. Lloyd loved to hunt, fish, and cook. Anytime he was asked how he was doing; his favorite saying was that he had a smile on his face and a song in his heart. After the loss of his wife, Celia, Lloyd found love again and married Ora Criswell in June 1999. Lloyd loved the Lord with all of his heart and served Him throughout his life. He was an active member of the Full Gospel Church in Rock Island, TX.

Lloyd is survived by: his sons, Lloyd Donald Spittler & wife Joan of Portland, TX, and Gary Wayne Spittler of Sheridan; sister Lois Jean (James) Spittler Whaley; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Tami) Spittler, Jana (Terry) Spittler Reid, and Brooke (Sean) Spittler Scogin; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.  Lloyd was lovingly cared for by Deborah Longoria who brightened his days with love, joy, and faith.

Lloyd is preceded in death by: his parents Christine Isabel & Howard Bascom Spittler; his wife Celia Hall Spittler; his second wife Ora Criswell Spittler; his brothers Joseph Albert Spittler, Harvey Boyd Spittler, Floyd Benjamin Spittler, Orval Howard Spittler, Everett Ray Spittler, William Joseph Spittler, Lane DeMont Spittler; and his sisters, Madye Alvas Spittler and La Verne Ruth Spittler Lovell.

Funeral Service : 2 pm, Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Rock Island Full Gospel Church in Rock Island, TX. Visitation: 5 pm, Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Jeffrey Spittler, Terry Reid, Sean Scogin, Spencer Shelley, Jerod Lutz, and Russell Brisco. Officiant: Pastor Calvin Harris. Memorials: Donor's choice. Burial: Cheetham Cemetery, Sheridan, TX.
