Lily C. Nilsson, 88, of Hallettsville, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014. She was born on July 25, 1926 in Methil Fife, Scotland, to the late William McKenzie and Wilhelmina Robertson McKenzie. She married Nils G. Nilsson on February 16, 1946 in Methil Fife, Scotland. She was a housewife & raised 4 wonderful children. Lily later had a career and retired from the Women's Prison Detention Center in Washington D.C. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, and loved to travel, play bingo and visit her family.

Lily is survived by: son Brian Nilsson & wife Linda of Kernersville, North Carolina; 2 daughters, Yvette Nilsson of Madison, North Carolina, and Karin Filipp & husband Kenneth of Moulton, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Lily was preceded in death by: husband Nils G. Nilsson, daughter Yvonne L. Muska, parents, and sister Ena McKenzie.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: 4 pm, Tuesday, at Kubena Funeral Home; with a Rosary at 7 pm. Officiant: Msgr. John Peters. Pallbearers: Michael Muska, Brannon Muska, Donald Bohuslav, Kenneth Filipp, Bryan J. Filipp, and Renee Filipp. Burial: Ascension of our Lord Catholic Cemetery in Moravia, Texas. Memorials (in lieu of flowers): Hospice of South Texas.
