Lillie Mae Underwood, 88, of Garwood, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday, December 18, 2023 in Hallettsville. Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rosary will begin at 9:30am and the funeral mass to follow at 10:00am.
Lillie was born October 12,1935, to Lillian (Herzik) and John Joseph Hoelscher. She married Henry Steelman Underwood in 1959. Lillie loved spending time with her family more than anything. If she wasn't with them, you could be sure to find her at a polka dance or in the kitchen baking her famous pies and kolaches. Lillie was a devout Catholic for all of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, beloved twin sister, Janie Mae Fikac, sister, Rose Marie Svetlik, brothers, Joe, Andrew, and James Hoelscher, and brothers- in- law, August Fikac, Donald Berger, and Paul Lipinsky.
Survivors include her daughter Karen Lehman, husband Steve and their children Jenny and Jake; son John Henry Underwood, married to Natalie and their 3 children; daughter Rose Ellermann, married to Gary and their children Alexis and Leah; brothers John (Susan) Hoelscher, Michael (Karen) Hoelscher; sisters Katherine Berger, Carolyn (Don) Shutts, Barbara Lipinsky, as well as 10 great- grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Ellermann, Leah Ellermann, Jake Lehman, Michael Berger, Gilbert Henneke, Chris Roznovsky, Roman Fikac, Anthony Fikac, Eric Shutts, & David Svetlik. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Lehman, Easton Falke, Alton Pohl, Matthew Pohl, Blake Pohl, Brian Svetlik, and Lance Lipinsky.
The family sends thanks to Hallettsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as a special thank you to Carol Henneke, Karen Roznovsky, and Janet Pohl for their love and care over the years.
Funeral Mass Service : 10 am, Friday, December 22, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville. Rosary starting at 9:30 am. Pallbearers: Gary Ellermann, Leah Ellermann, Jake Lehman, Michael Berger, Gilbert Henneke, Chris Roznovsky, Roman Fikac, Anthony Fikac, Eric Shutts, & David Svetlik. Honorary Pallbearers : Steve Lehman, Easton Falke, Alton Pohl, Matthew Pohl, Blake Pohl, Brian Svetlik, and Lance Lipinsky. Officiant : Msgr. Tim Kosler. Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or donor's choice. Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Nada, Texas.
