Obituary

Lillie Pekar Melnar, age 93, of Hallettsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. She was born on November 5th, 1918, in Sweet Home TX, to John and Frances Fait Pekar. On October 26th 1943 Lillie married Victor Melnar in Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sweet Home. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in October 2003. She was a member of St John the Baptist Catholic church of Koerth TX, a farmer's wife, homemaker, member of Sweet home American Legion Auxiliary, KJZT, a loving mother, grandma, great-grandma, and friend. Lillie's witty and crafty ways will always be remembered. She will always be in our hearts and in our memories. May God grant her eternal rest.

Lillie is survived by: 2 daughters, Magdalen Demel and husband Marcus of Schulenburg, Mildred Marie Kirkland and husband Tommy of Maryville Tennessee; 2 sons, Dennis Melnar and wife Carol of Georgetown and Victor Melnar Jr. of Hallettsville; 6 grandchildren, Marc Demel and wife Sheila of Seguin, Michael Lee Demel and wife Cheri of Schulenburg, Angela Heger and husband Lance of Weimar, Darren Melnar and wife Krista of Austin, Bradley Melnar and wife Natalie of Hutto, Kari Thormann and husband Luke of Cedar Park; 12 great-grandchildren; Macey and Lexey Moekel, Skylar and Bralan Heger, Peyton Dahl, Taylor, Dalton and Cooper Demel, Audrey and Owen Melnar, Lilly Thormann and Isaac Melnar; 2 sisters, Annie Darby of Rockdale, Mary Long of Leander; 2 brothers; Henry John Pekar of Hallettsville and Robert Pekar of Schertz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Victor Melnar Sr.; 5 sisters, Frances Hermes, Janie Migl, Matilda Kutach, Eleanor Dolezal, and Toni Kopecky; and brother, Charlie Pekar.

Funeral Mass Service: 10 am, Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Koerth. Visitation: 4 pm,Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home. Wake Service: 7 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiate: Rev. Charles Sonnier. Pallbearers (Grandsons): Grand Sons; Marc Demel, Michael Lee Demel, Darren Melnar, Bradley Melnar, Lance Heger and Luke Thormann. Honorary Pallbearers: Great grandchildren. Burial: St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Koerth. Memorials: St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Hospice of South Texas, or a charity of your choice.
