IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leroy James
Schindler
June 26, 1933 – July 21, 2008
Leroy graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School. He joined the US Air Force where he served in Korea, and received a Honorable Discharged in 1961. He attended St. Edward's University in Austin before transferring to the University of Houston as an accounting major. Leroy worked as an accountant for many years. While living in Houston he met his future bride, Patricia Weeks. They married Oct. 4, 1958 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Houston. They were blessed with four beautiful children, and eventually seven amazing grandchildren.
After retirement, Leroy and Pat fulfilled their life-long dream of settling in Hallettsville, where he was able to devote his time to doing what he loved - attending to his ranch. Leroy and Pat also enjoyed the country life with frequent visits from their children and by entertaining their grandchildren. Second to hosting family and friends, they enjoyed quiet evenings on the front porch, playing dominos and attending church picnics.
Leroy was a humble and quiet man. His family will miss him greatly, but know he is now at peace with his savior Jesus Christ.
Leroy is survived by: wife Patricia; son Darrell Schindler of Houston; 3 daughters, Brenda Ellis & husband Ricky of Spring, Tracy Burke of San Diego, CA, and Teresa Amberson of Houston; 5 sisters, Dorothy Hauge of Crockett, TX, Dolores Sladecek of Holland, TX, Charlene Eastland of Houston, Barbara Schindler of Houston, and Helen Foltyn of Houston; and 7 grandchildren, Taylor Amberson, Ryan Ellis, Ashlyn Ellis, Kyndall Ellis, Alexandra Burke, Joshua Burke, and Zachary Burke.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Rudolph Schindler Jr
