Leroy returned to Hallettsville after his discharge from the Air Force. He helped his family, and about a year later, he got the job of his dreams – gauging oil wells. This proceeded to be his life-long job for the next 69 years.

Leroy loved to dance, and it was how he met the love of his life, Alma Liebicher, it was instant attraction. They married on Oct. 16, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville, and lived in Hallettsville the rest of his life. The union had 3 sons, Leroy J., Roger (deceased) and Michael. He was interested and active in all things involving the school & sports.

Leroy formed his own company Mikeska Well Services, Inc., and he, Alma and Michael ran the company for a number of years, until Leroy's age made him retire.

Leroy put his energy and spare time in helping several organizations in Hallettsville, he was an excellent cooker of everyone's favorite, sauerkraut.

Leroy became disabled about 3 years ago, and had to retire to Hallettsville Rehab & Nursing. He always had a smile for everyone and enjoyed his "coffee shop" buddies. Hunting was a favorite sport, and he has 3 trophies to prove his marksman's ship.
